General Info

Tucked into 101 N Main St in McAllen, The Spanish Room feels like the kind of restaurant you stumble upon once and then can’t stop thinking about. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere leans warm and inviting, yet still upmarket enough to make any meal feel like a small celebration. It’s the kind of place where you find locals lingering over brunch plates, travelers discovering new flavors, and solo diners settling comfortably into the relaxed rhythm of the room.

What stood out to me first was the menu-simple at a glance, but full of dishes that feel thoughtfully crafted. The Eggs Benedict is a favorite for good reason; the balance of rich hollandaise and perfectly cooked eggs makes it one of those dishes you’d come back for. And if you enjoy something with a little more Texas flair, the Migas and Huevos Rancheros bring that satisfying mix of freshness, spice, and comfort. Even the Smoked Salmon, served with a delicate touch, carries a clean, savory flavor that fits seamlessly into the restaurant’s approach to food.

For something a bit different, the Southwestern Crab Cake PO Boy is a standout option. It’s hearty, flavor-packed, and feels like the perfect nod to the region’s blend of influences. Between bites, it’s easy to notice how smoothly everything runs-whether it’s the attentive staff or the small details that make the space feel accessible to everyone. The Spanish Room offers wheelchair-accessible seating and a wheelchair-accessible car park, making it a place where more guests can enjoy a relaxed and comfortable dining experience.

And of course, it’s impossible not to mention dessert. The Spanish Room has a reputation for great desserts that genuinely live up to the hype. They round out the meal in a way that feels indulgent without being overwhelming, the kind of sweet finish that lingers pleasantly as you walk out the door.

Across various reviews, you’ll often see guests talking about how easy it is to dine here-whether dropping in on your own or meeting friends for a slow brunch. The location in downtown McAllen makes it convenient for both locals and visitors exploring the area, and the food has a way of making the experience feel personal, like you’ve discovered a favorite before you’ve even left the table.

If you’re exploring new locations to eat in McAllen or simply looking for a comfortable place with memorable dishes, The Spanish Room is one of those spots that quietly delivers exactly what you didn’t know you were craving.

What customers say?

“ Amazing staff and quick service with order. Originally was going to order house omelet but joked that unless the waiter could convince me otherwise. Gave me the suggestion to order the Huevos Rancheros, which was cheaper, as his suggestion and clearly not to up charge and his true recommendation, to which could not be upset on the taste. Amazing on taste, great on service with drinks and plating. Met the chef following my meal who wanted my input. Clearly a place that cares what they put out then how much they can make and the quality of their work. ”

“ Came here today with my wife. All the food was tasty, my red snapper was perfect. Our waiter was excellent and gave us great service. Highly recommend this restaurant. ”

“ We went for breakfast. It's inside the hotel so we parked on the second floor and used the elevator to go down to the first floor. Food was good, my smoked salmon required some assembly with the bagel lol. Service was great ”

“ Red is an awesome entertainer and I so enjoyed her music. She had a wide variety and also did requests. I will definitely tell all my friends to visit on Tuesdays! ”

“ I was very happy with the food and service here. They really made me feel like vip. ”

“ Outstanding food. Had the ribeye, and my girlfriend had the roasted salmon, the potatoes were outstanding, the have a Mexican old Fashioned, and it was out of the park. Smooth, with a smoky roasted marshmallow aftertaste. Our server was pretty busy, but she still took exelent care of us. ”

“ Awesome food and great staff! We were the only people in the restaurant when my family went, but that was probably just our timing. The staff was all so sweet and caring, even when my deranged child was acting like an animal. The food was AMAZING. Made in house, and didn't take long at all to serve! My husband and I had the spinach dip appetizer, then I had the BBQ brisket and jalapeno sausage (with mashed potatoes and squash) plus the banana bread pudding for dessert. SO GOOD. I was full before I finished half of my entree but I kept eating because it was so delicious. And then ordered dessert even after deciding I was too full for it. Ha! The staff even brought out some tortilla chips and later fresh kettle chips for my toddler who kept saying he wouldn't eat anything. (He ate some, but I think his taste buds must be defective, 'cause he only wants lunchables.) We also got to hear fun stories about celebrities who've visited! Great meal all around! ”
